The beginning
I’m Paula, a South African in her late twenties. “Ms Paula Bee” was created in 2014 as a platform for me to express my passion for creativity in fashion and beauty.
The Name
Believe it or not, an old high school friend of mine suggested that I start posting #OOTD photos on Instagram back in 2012. The ‘Bee’ is just shorter for my second name, Bianca. I remember that my Instagram handle was @paulabee93, so soon after the #OOTD photos started, the ’93’ fell away and I remained ‘Paula Bee’ for a while. When the blog started in 2014, I decided to add the Ms to the name to give a more ladylike effect. Its funny because many people ask me why I haven’t changed my social media handle to MRS Paula Bee, and its quite simple – “Ms” is a title used before the surname or full name of any woman regardless of her marital status. It is a neutral alternative to Mrs or Miss. So I will never have to change it!
The Passion
Being a lover of minimalistic aesthetic, whether it is in fashion, decor or makeup, this blog serves as a platform to portray all of the above. I recently earned my degree in Psychology in 2016. It was a long, but oh-so worth it, five years of studying.
When I’m not shooting/working on content for the Instagram, YouTube or the blog, you’ll find me hanging out with my handsome hubs, trying out new cafés, or out exploring all that this city has to offer.
