River Island approached me to create a festival-inspired look that would be perfect for Ultra SA 2017 that’s taking place next weekend. I was super excited to go ahead and find items that would resonate with my personal style – bohemian/gypsy chic.

About the Outfit

If you know me well, you’ll know that I absolutely love themes. I always feel like I need to know what the theme is before I put together an outfit for any occasion. Naturally, I researched some Coachella-inspired outfits that would inspire me, as I noticed that there wasn’t that many looks for Ultra. I decided to go with this gorgeous cold-shoulder top because the detailing on it was perfect for a festival look. It has these gorgeous embroidered flowers all over the top, adding a girly effect to the gypsy style. I paired the top with a pair of denim shorts, western belt and chunky gladiator sandals, as well as this awesome Japanese-inspired backpack.

I’ve actually never owned a backpack so stunning and girly, so I just had to pair it with this outfit. Besides, you need a multipurpose bag for Ultra to keep all your goodies, right?

About the Makeup & Hair

The night before we shot this look, I was scrolling through Pinterest for great makeup ideas that would work well with the outfit, as well as suit the vibe that Ultra has. I went for subtle cut crease with neutral tones and a pop of red under the eye. Also, I’ve never worn any rhinestones on my face before and I’ve been noticing all my favorite YouTube celebs (like NikkiTutorials) rocking the rhinestones under the eyes, so i decided to try it out for myself.

For the hair, I drew inspiration from the Japanese Harajuku culture and a few photos I found on Pinterest. It was pretty windy when we shot this look, but lets just say that some Moroccan Oil dry texture spray and beach mousse goes a long way! I quite like the way that it turned out and I’m definitely going to create a tutorial on how to get this makeup and hair look for any music festival.

Until next time,
