Rimmel London Provocalips Review

Paula Jacobs

I was sent the Rimmel London Provocalips collection to review a few weeks ago, and let me just tell you – I’m obsessed. From the packaging to the formula, I highly recommend these lip glosses.

Let me tell you why:

When the packaging states “16hr kiss proof lip colour”, you best believe that I’m going to test that theory and prove it for myself. I applied the shade “Kiss Me You Fool” at 11am one Sunday morning, and went about my day. I had breakfast; drank juice, coffee, milkshake, etc.; I had a cute kissing sesh with Lorenzo; and had a plate of braai’d meat that evening too – and you know how messy meat can be! This lip colour would not budge. The inner section of my lips were starting to peel which is understandable, of course, seeing that is the area that has the most moisture. The outer area of my lips were still in tact and kind of had a “Ruby Woo” texture to it. The same happened with “Little Minx” and “Play With Fire”. Now I am not so certain that the pigment will last as long with the lighter shades, such as “Dare to Pink” and “Skinny Dipping” because lighter shades usually don’t last as long as darker ones, in my opinion.

The Application:

There are two steps to achieving the full experience of these glosses. The first step is applying the layer of colour to the lips – not too thick nor too thin. The second step includes applying the lock and shine serum, which is what will bring out the “oomph” in the colour!

What I don’t like:

The one downfall to these lip glosses is that, as I previously mentioned, it will start to peel in the centre of the inner lips due to eating and drinking. I find that quite unappealing as it can look a bit ugly towards the end of the day.

Have you tried any of these yet? My personal favourites are “Kiss Me You Fool” and “Little Minx” – perfect for spring! You can purchase these lip colours at any Clicks stores.

Until next time,
